I bet you thought I forgot

It has been quite a while since I talked about starting my first quilting project. I was all gung ho ready to jump right in and stitch that baby right up. Wellll.... As it turns out, I hit a bit of a snag. Starting a new craft project definitely teaches you things about yourself. One thing I have recently learned: I am the slowest fabric cutter on the planet Earth. Really, I am.

I think I am still stuck on Week 2 of the project and right now it is Week 5. Oops. But as the instructions say, quilting is supposed to be fun and relaxing, not a source of stress. In the spirit of embracing this concept, I am taking my time. Who cares if it takes me an entire month to cut out 100 squares and 100 rectangles? (By the way, it took me almost two hours just to do 40.)

My Olympics obsession is likely not helping the situation, but I will get there... probably not until after the closing ceremonies.

I love that fabric! I'm too intimidated to even start a real quilt, so just having started is impressive.

Funny, I started my first real quilt as well a few weeks back, Oh Fransson's paintbox quilt along. But when I say started, what I really mean is I bought a bunch of fabric and have spent a lot of time admiring it. I am yet to cut any of it. I think they are on week 7 now...

I am still keeping up with all of the instructions and have been so surprised to find that it is really not that difficult--just very time consuming. But so far I would agree that admiring the fabric really is the very best part!

cutting the fabric is my least favorite part of the quilt making process. it's so time consuming and just plain boring. So, I guess there are better days ahead, days when you hear the whirring of the machine and see the project come together! can't wait to see how it comes out...even a few weeks late (mine are always "in progress")
