What Keeps Me Going

Fridays on this space are dedicated to sharing what keeps me going... A moment, a photo, an event or a memory that stands out against whatever might have gone wrong or felt dark in the last seven days.

Today has been littered with drastic hormonal mood swings, disappointments, hot flashes, shortness of breath, a crabby babe and sleep deprivation.

Thank God that mixed in between it all, there was this moment:

I still love her pigtails, she still loves her yellow rain boots and who doesn't love a cute view of a baby booty? I swear, she'll be 30 and I'll still think her bum is the most adorable thing ever.

I would love it if you joined me in sharing what keeps you going! Leave a comment to let me know you're participating and each week, I will include a list of everyone who is playing along.

**A special thanks to my dear friend Jenn, my honorary MIL Mary, and to my Dad for sharing your words last week. Hugs to you all!

As a father of surviving the raising of 3 daughters I can only say...PUT SOME PANTS ON THAT GIRL! Give her long dresses. Keep her baby bootie and other parts covered. I still remember the words ringing in my ear of someone I worked with who had 2 sons. He said, "I only have to worry about 2 penises. You have to worry about every penis in town." Thanks...thanks a lot.

That is adorable! Yes, there is nothing cuter than a baby booty. As far as what keeps me going? I'd have to say the funny things that kids say. For instance this week the kids were going to Grandmas and we were having to leave early... my 6 year old Dru says to her brother and sister "Hurry up! We are going to leave earlier than anticipated!" or when my 3 year old says after one thing after another just happened to her finally breaks down and says "I've had a really bad day mommy!"

On days like today, I have to say what keeps me going and what has sustained me is the sound of laughter coming from my dear friends.

And by the way, Addie is so gonna get you when she finds this picture on the internets! I will have to tell her that it was a really cute time in her life regardless of how embarrassed she may feel upon its discovery:-)

Erin started her new school last week. After a great first day she told me she did't want to go back. For the next week she would cry on the walk to school and have to be pried off of me by her teachers. She is one strong girl. Well yesterday she decided it wasn't that bad. This morning she was excited to go. I cannot tell you how much I needed that. I wasn't sure how long I could do that. Now I feel it's ok to look for a job, the first since she's been born, and she will be ok. But I must say I've missed her. I guess I still need to get over it.

That is one of the cutest pictures I have ever seen! I enjoy your blog very much, Sara, even though I've only ever really known you through Kate's stories. :) I'm glad you share your perspective with the blogging community.

Fantastic. Simply fantastic!

What kept me going this week...Honestly, I can't remember a specific experience, but I do feel as if Sadie grew up this week. I told Omar a couple of days ago that I thought Sadie woke up from her nap four months older. It's hard to put in words, but I'm loving it (other than the fact that she's getting older and the tantrums that go with it). I love my little babe!

Hooray for such fantastic words and stories this week!!! Thank you all for sharing pieces of your lives... I know I love hearing what lifted you up in the last seven days. Love to you all...

And Dad, if you can catch her, you can put pants on her!!! God knows I tried for about 5 minutes before I finally just gave up and grabbed the camera. Hopefully when she's a teenager I won't be pregnant so I can keep up a bit better with that bum...
