Friday pray along

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"
~Mary Oliver

All week my heart has been filled with memories of my dear friend Adrienne, who left this earth ten years ago on Sunday. Last year, I wrote this post on what would have been her 30th birthday and today I quietly celebrate another anniversary of her birth.

Thinking about her life and the incredible legacy she left behind allows me to ponder what it means to really live. Because man, she did. She drank up every cup placed before her with courage, intention, laughter, joy and gumption. She taught me so much about what it means to get up and greet every day as one that should not be wasted. Stories from her life have been floating around facebook all week and the message conveyed by each one is that our Adrienne left her mark on this world. She used her short life in the best way possible--she touched people. She planted the seeds of the very best memories that are becoming legendary antiques in the worn corners of our minds and hearts.

Today, with her spirit in mind, this is the simple hope and prayer that I share for all of our lives: that we may seek to live out each day as the greatest blessing and gift. That each day may be viewed as one that must not be wasted. That we all can find a way to use our "one wild and precious life" that brings honor to the deepest parts of who we are and gives glory to The One who created us.

What is your prayer for this day?

Here's how it works: Leave a prayer request in the comments on Friday's posts. It can be anything--something you are thankful for, a friend you are worried about, a desire from your heart... Anything. By leaving a comment you are also committing to pray for others who comment as well. We'll start fresh each week. That's it. You can even be anonymous if you wish.

Sara, thank you for sharing this with us about your friend. I am praying for my family this week. It seems there are so many things going on with different ones in my family from sickness, surgery, family problems, and relationships. I pray that I can be a blessing to them and lift them up in prayer to the One who can cure all and repair all.

Sara, this week I am asking for prayers for my sister-in-law who is 33 weeks. She found out some things this week that have rocked her to her core. I pray she finds strength within herself and for the health of her baby.

You do not know me but drie's aunt tra linked me to your post from last year.

As i have been struggling this week with my grief over Adrienne, I was so glad to read what you wrote last year and again this year!!

i commented on last years post the other day but incase you didnt received it, here it is....Adrienne was also one of my best friends. i thank you for this post as i have been wrestling with missing my dear friend too!!! though i did not have as many memories with her, as she lived so far away, every memory i do share with my ya-ya sister is definitely filled with joy!!!

she was also the copper to my todd (fox and the hound)and the first time we met "we took her style and my style and interweaved them" (we went to see Son-In-Law at the movies while she spent the summer with her and aunt tra and my family).

my daughter is also named after her, and i think that in itself shows how much she truly made an impression on so many of our lives.

My Alyssa Drienne grows up every day knowing that my sister alyssa (who dies just before Adrienne) and her "aunt adrienne" (i drop the a since most of the time i called her drie anyway) are her guardian angels looking down and blessing us!!!

i like you, i am sure, when my little sassy 4 year old is debating the finer points of something with me, i just start laughing and say "love you too sweet adrienne".

thanks again for your memories... as i curl up on the couch with a quilt of blankets made from shirts from throughout Adrienne's wonderful life, i am so glad that not only does my friend live on in future generations through my daughter but also through yours!!!

may God bless you and your family....i know Adrienne is looking down and loving her namesakes!!!

I love this idea and would love to join you on Fridays. I'm working, simply on awareness. I'm praying that I can be aware of what triggers anxious feelings among other things. I see at as my part of letting go for God's purposes in transformation. I will also be so happy to pray her. Thank you.
